Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) offering virtual support across Ontario.
ERIN SIKKEMA
I’m Erin Sikkema (she/her), a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) in Ontario. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Trinity Western University and am currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. I have also completed the Indigenous Canada certificate through the University of Alberta.
I began my career in mental health as a frontline worker at managed alcohol programs and supervised injection sites across Ottawa. Through these experiences, I saw firsthand the importance of trauma-informed care when supporting marginalized populations. My subsequent professional experiences have shaped my understanding of integrative treatment planning and the value of drawing from different therapeutic modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and trauma-informed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
My approach to therapy is trauma-informed, client-centred, and psychodynamic, grounded in a holistic understanding of each person as a whole. I aim to understand how your experiences, relationships, and circumstances shape your well-being, occasionally integrating Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and mindfulness to support your individual needs and goals.
AREAS OF FOCUS:
- Neurodiversity affirming care including ADHD, DID and ASD
- Queer-affirming approach focusing on exploring gender identity
- Trauma-informed care for PTSD, CPTSD, and grief
- Strength-based support for substance-use relapse and prevention
- Creating inclusive spaces for marginalized populations, including Indigenous clients
- Navigating symptoms, such as irritability, grief, and trauma, related to concussions and other physical injuries
Erin’s current rate is $120 for a 50-minute adult individual psychotherapy session and $180 for a 75-minute session. She offers services virtually and over the phone.
