Registered Social Worker (RSW) offering virtual support across Ontario.
SOPHIA HIRST BARSOSKI
I’m Sophia Hirst Barsoski (she/her), a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with a Master of Social Work (MSW) from York University and a Bachelor of Arts in Gender and Sexuality Studies from Concordia University. I support individuals and couples navigating neurodivergence, identity, relationships, and emotional well-being, with a particular focus on adults with ADHD, autism, and AuDHD, women and gender-diverse individuals with a later-in-life ADHD diagnosis, and queer and neurodivergent couples. I also work with clients experiencing anxiety, chronic stress, burnout, depression, and PTSD.
My approach to therapy is multidisciplinary, trauma-informed, and person-centred. I draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), tailoring my approach to each client’s unique needs and goals. I incorporate DBT and Narrative Therapy when supporting neurodivergent clients and EFT in couples counselling, helping clients navigate communication, emotional connection, intimacy, and relationship dynamics. My work is grounded in creating a safe, collaborative space where clients can explore their experiences, develop new perspectives, and build meaningful skills for change.
As a neurodivergent person, I understand the pressure to mask, conform, and navigate a world that does not always accommodate different ways of thinking and being. I believe personal growth can coexist with radical self-acceptance, and that our lived experiences are shaped by our environments and social contexts. I strive to create a space where you feel seen, understood, and supported in showing up authentically, with trust, emotional safety, and a strong therapeutic relationship at the heart of our work together.
